Mission
Our Wishes girls program is committed to fostering community engagement and empowering young girls through sports. We launched a free basketball program specifically for girls, running in GTA. Our mission is to encourage girls to participate in sports, build self-confidence, and develop leadership skills within a safe, positive, supportive environment.
In addition to weekly training, we organized a special event for Truth and Reconciliation Day to give back to the community while raising awareness about this important day. We invited the girls to bring friends along for an open session, providing them with orange shirts to wear as a symbol of respect and remembrance. During the event, coaches explained the significance of Truth and Reconciliation Day, highlighting its role in fostering understanding and healing within Canadian communities. This experience not only allowed participants to learn about the history and importance of reconciliation but also fostered a sense of community responsibility.
Looking ahead, we plan to expand our community outreach by organizing seasonal clinics for girls from diverse backgrounds, ensuring everyone has access to the benefits of team sports. We're also exploring partnerships with local schools and organizations to make our sessions more accessible to all. Through these initiatives, we aim to make a lasting impact on girls' lives by helping them build confidence, form friendships, and learn the importance of resilience, teamwork, and community awareness.
